FCCMA 2011-2012 District Trainings

Florida’s Legislative Process: Working together for the Betterment of Local Government in 2012 The Florida City and County Management Association has scheduled three “Special District Training” sessions this year that will focus on the state legislative process and the roles and responsibilities that local government managers, state representatives, lobbyists, the Florida League of Cities and the Florida Association of Counties have in this process. Representatives from each of these sectors will be present at each session to share their views and provoke discussion among the attendees on how best to work together for the betterment of local government in Florida.

This is a must session for all FCCMA members. FCCMA has strategically scheduled three opportunities for members and staff to attend a session; one in northeast Florida (Daytona Beach on 12/2/11), and one in northwest Florida (Tallahassee on 1/6/12). All training is conducted between 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm and includes lunch.

Career Transition and Resources for City and County

DBM, a leader in career transition and talent development solutions, will address career transition expectations and resources for local government managers, including specific skill sets, individual career development and sustainability in today’s changing work environment. Participants will re-visit why they choose a public sector career and why they remain in the local government management profession. This will be an interactive, par-ticipatory session for managers at all career points, including managers in transition, managers maintaining positions and managers approaching retirement. DBM will address proactive measures that local government managers should be taking for career success and offer practical guidance on local government management contracts and benefit considerations.

Speakers: Tony Gain, Drake Beam Morin, Inc. (DBM)

Training is conducted between 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm and includes lunch.  Hillsborough County, Children’s Services, 3110 Clay Mangum Lane, Tampa, FL 33618.  $35.
