PALM BAY – Recreation Director

The City of Palm Bay invites experienced, innovative, and community-focused recreation professionals to lead recreation programs, facilities, special events, and community partnerships in the largest city on Florida’s Space Coast.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Deputy City Manager, the Recreation Director serves as the City’s senior recreation executive and leads 22 FTEs with an annual departmental budget of approximately $3 million. The Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for recreation programs, facilities, major community events, partnerships, personnel, budgeting, grants, and long-range planning.

Compensation

Salary Range: $111,867 – $184,581

Anticipated Starting Salary: Approximately $150,000 +/-, depending on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree and six years of professional parks and recreation experience, or an associate’s degree and eight years of professional parks and recreation experience. Candidates must also have at least five years of responsible supervisory experience.
