Under the management of the Utility Planning and Engineering division, perform engineering functions in the Utility Department which currently has a five-year CIP exceeding $500 million.  The purpose of the position is to perform engineering work to plan, coordinate and implement development and construction projects with the objective to advance to the Professional Engineering level if not yet licensed.  Employees in this classification perform at a professional level, and are accountable for reviewing the planning, development and management of projects to ensure compliance with all applicable City/State/federal codes and regulations, and according to all acceptable engineering practices.  Position is also responsible for review of construction Engineering inspections and final approval of development plans and construction.  Employee works with a high degree of independence and initiative yet is expected to confer with the Utility Project Engineering & Construction Manager along with the Development Manager, Assistant Directors, and Director on matters involving unusual development or planning problems, be proficient in project delivery processes, and be effective in collaborating with Utility Operations.

Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, mechanical engineering or related field required. Minimum of two (2) post-graduation years of related engineering work experience, preferably five (5) or more years engineering work experience and with exposure to water/wastewater utilities design or construction of delivery and collection systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Engineering-In-Training Certification is required.

Professional Engineering License is preferred.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Expected starting salary to be $75,000 to $125,000 depending upon qualifications and experience.
