The Economic and Strategic Opportunities Director reports directly to the City Manager and is responsible for leading the city’s economic development, Business Enterprise Management and neighborhood/community development and redevelopment efforts. This role includes implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs, as well as administering applicable incentives and grants. The director performs a wide range of duties focused on business retention, attraction and expansion to strengthen the city’s economic base. Responsibilities include coordinating economic and business incentive packages and supporting the recruitment, retention and growth of businesses throughout the city. The director also identifies strategic opportunities and leads proactive efforts to advance economic development and redevelopment projects. Economic incentive tools may include, but are not limited to, Brownfield programs, local financial assistance and property tax abatements. The director works closely with key partners, including Volusia County, the Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation, the CEO Business Alliance, Enterprise Florida, and the State Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development.
